Torchline — Encounter Builder for 5e
A downloadable game
Torchline is a free encounter builder for 5e-compatible tabletop games.
Set your party size, level, difficulty and creature type. Get a built encounter with real SRD 5.1 stat lines — challenge rating, armour class, hit points, XP — the crowd multiplier worked out, and an honest verdict on whether it actually lands inside your party's budget.
Use it in your browser, free, no account:

What's in the download
A three-page PDF with six ready-to-run encounters, levels 1 to 5, laid out to print. Each one shows its full XP maths and carries a link back to the builder that rebuilds that exact encounter — so the sheet on your table and the tool in your browser are the same thing.
Every result has a permanent link
Torchline is deterministic: the same settings and the same seed always produce the same encounter. Paste the link into your prep notes, or send it to whoever is running next week. It will still be there.
What's honest about the numbers
The XP-per-creature values are the SRD's, unchanged. The party budget curve and the crowd multiplier are Torchline's own heuristic and are labelled as such on the site — a starting point, not an official rule. Trust your table over any calculator, this one included.
There is one paid thing, and this isn't it
The builder and this sampler are free and stay free. On the site there is also a $5 Session Pack — six encounters as a difficulty arc, print-optimised, rebuildable from your link as often as you like. You never need it to use the tool.
